YANGON (2 July 2013) –Ye Htut Tin, Myanmar Football Federation (MFF) Futsal Committee chairman, said this week that the lack of exposure is hampering the continued development of Myanmar Futsal at the world stage.
He made the statement following the team’s dismal showing in their current tour of Thailand when they crashed to embarrassing defeats.
“We never travel outside of our country to have friendly matches or participate in international tournaments,” said Htut Tin.
“Additionally we don’t have a proper Futsal stadium. We are using Hlaing Stadium and Thuwunna Stadium. They are not available sometimes because Hlaing Stadium floods during the rainy season and Thuwunna Stadium is often used to host other sporting events.”
The Myanmar national Futsal side which is being prepared for the AFF Futsal Championship and also the SEA Games at the end of the year fell to Bangkok FC, the Thai national team and also the national side of the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
