SINGAPORE (12 March 2010) – Etoile FC moved up to second in the S-League following their crushing 4-0 win over Woodlands Wellington last night.
The win for Etoile over the same opponents was their second in less than a week following the victory they scored in the final of the League Cup 2010 on the weekend. Then, Etoile FC had emerged as the champions of the League Cup 2010 with a 3-1 win over Woodlands. But this time round, Etoile did not have to play catch up as Julien Deletraz prised open their opponents defence with the first goal of the game in the 8th minute. Two further goals from Cyril Bagnost (14th minute) and Frederic Mendy (21st) gave Etoile a comfortable 3-0 lead at the break. Mendy then completed the double with his second of the night in the 51st minute to complete the rout. The win has allowed Etoile FC to move up to second in the S-League – just a point adrift of leaders Tampines Rovers. S-LEAGUE STANDINGS 1. Tampines Rovers FC 10pts (+6) 2. Etoile FC 7pts (+5) 3.
