SINGAPORE (21 Jan 2010) – French club Étoile FC and Beijing Guoan FC from China have been named by the FA of Singapore (FAS) as the two clubs which will complete the line-up of the 12 teams taking part in the S-League 2010.
In announcing the decision, FAS president Zainudin Nordin said that the choice was made through ‘a long diligence process’ with the applicants measured against three broad criteria – their management, financial and technical strength. “After a thorough assessment process, I believe we have selected the two strongest teams among the applicants,” said Zainudin. The FAS received a total of eight applications from teams from Asia, Europe, South America and Australia. “First of all, I would like to say thank you to the FAS,” said Étoile CEO Johan Gouttefangeas. “We hope for everyone’s support in this project, because it is still a long way for us before we get to our target, which is lifting one of the trophies.” |
