PHNOM PENH (23 April 2008) – Newly-crowned Hun Sen Cup champions Phnom Penh Empire will play the Young Lions in the opening game of the 2008 RHB Singapore Cup next month.
The Cambodian outfit will be taking part in the preliminary round of the championship this year which will kick-off on 6 May 2008 at the Jalan Besar Stadium. Three other foreign teams – DPMM FC from Brunei, Bangkok University and Tobacco Monopoly from Thailand – will take on Woodlands Wellington, Albirex Niigata and Gombak United respectively. Defending champions SAFFC will defend their crown against Balestier Khalsa on 9 May 2008 at the Choa Chu Kang Stadium.
