BANGKOK (6 Oct 2008) – Provincial Electric FC will be looking to wrap up their first ever Thailand Premier League 2008 crown this weekend when they head into the final game of the season against Coke Bangpra on the road.
Coke Bangpra are currently tenth in the Thai Premier League table after having held Osotpsa M150 to a 1-1 away draw in their last match on Saturday. But that enthusiasm might not be enough to snuff the enthusiasm of Provincial Electric, who thumped Nakornpratom FC 4-0 in their last game with the hope that they can improve on their best ever league finish in the 2004-2005 season where they emerged second. With the win and the three points, Provincial Electric are now at the top of the Thailand Premier League 2008 table with 58 points from 29 matches, with title rivals Chonburi FC on second with 56 points. The Pattaya-based Chonburi, who had started their penultimate game of the season on equal points with Provincial, must have been disappointed when they could only eke out the one point following their scoreless draw against Samud Songkram. And they will have to muster all they can this weekend when they take on fourteenth-placed Bangkok University for the full points and hope that Provincial falter to Coke Bangpra.
