JAKARTA (25 August 2009) – Electric PLN V-Sport emerged as back to back champions of the Indonesia Futsal League (IFL) 2009 when they successfully defended their crown by beating Biangbola FC 4-2 in the final this week at the Istora Senayan.
Electric PLN youngster Chaerul Saleh was the star of the final match when he blasted in the hat-trick with Indonesia national striker Topas Pamungkas (pix) scoring the other. Topas also emerged as the best player of IFL 2009. The two goals for Biangbola FC were scored by Gustian Sukmana and Ragil Handoyo. Incidentally, Electric PLN V-Sport had also beaten Biangbola FC 2-1 in the final last year. “Last season, we had the material to win the championship. While this year, it was different as we had a whole host of youngsters playing for us. So winning this year’s title is very special indeed,” said Yerico Umbas, the chairman of Electric PLN. Yericho said that what made the difference this year was also the ability of head coach Andri Irawan in formulating the right tactics and strategy. “Technical director Justin Lhaksana were also right on the money with his choice of players who were mostly youngsters,” added Yerico. With the win, Electric PLN took home a total of Rp 106 juta (USD 10,600) with Biangbola winning Rp. 30 juta (USD 3,000) for coming in second. |
