SINGAPORE (11 December 2024) – Two early goals gave Singapore a hard-earned 2-1 win over Cambodia on the second matchday of Group A of the ASEAN Mitsubishi Electric Cup 2024.
At the National Stadium in Singapore, the host went ahead in the ninth minute through Faris Ramli before Shawal Anuar added the second goal seven minutes later.
The visiting Cambodia side scored their only goal of the game in the 59th minute through Sieng Chanthea.
In the meantime, at the National Stadium in Bukit Jalil, host Malaysia escaped with a 3-2 victory over Timor Leste for their first full points.
Syafiq Ahmad had given the Malaysians the lead after 38 minutes only to see it slipped 2-1 to Timor Leste at the break when the visitors clipped two quick goals through Olagar Xavier (45th+1) and João Pedro (45th+3).
However, two goals from Paulo Josue (70th and 83rd minute) would turn the game to Malaysia’s favour 3-2.
