PETALING JAYA (22 May 2009) – In spite of the few complaints over the last week, the draw for the several Asean Football Federation (AFF) Competitions this year was made in good faith.
The fourth meeting of the AFF Competitions Committee was held on 14 March 2009 under the chairmanship of His Excellency Ravy Khek in Petaling Jaya, Malaysia. At the aforementioned meeting, the draw for all AFF Competitions in 2009 was made – and this was for the AFF Futsal Championship (to be hosted by Vietnam), the Under-16 Championship (Thailand), the Under-16 Championship (Vietnam) and the AFF Women’s Championship (Myanmar). All member associations were informed well ahead of the meeting where they were also told of the draw which was to be held in Malaysia. HE Ravy conducted the draw for the four main championships this year and where immediately afterwards, all Member Associations were notified of the outcome. And at the time, no one complain on the results of the draw where subsequently, it was also brought into the meeting of the AFF Executive Committee for further discussion. But it would seem that after more than two months, there are quarters now making unwarranted comments even to local dailies on the results of the draw when Member Associations were well aware of what had already transpired. How is this possible? This is not a criticism but the lesson which should be learn from here is that Member Associations should be more vigilant with regards to competitions which they are participating in. And they should take extra care to make sure that they are well represented by the correct person each time a draw ceremony is conducted. Otherwise, there will be no end to these voices of dissatisfaction. |
