SINGAPORE (27 April 2011) – The draw for the 23rd edition of the Lion City Cup was made this week with the six participating teams being divided into two groups.
In the draw that was made at the FA of Singapore office, Group A will see Newcastle United of England battling it out against the Singapore Under-15 squad and Juventus FC of Italy.
In Group B are Samba boys CR Flamengo, another English side Everton FC and the Singapore Under-16.
It is a real honour and privilege to represent our Under-15 team in this ceremony, I hope our protector Saint Judas Tadeu will continue to guide the team throughout the tournament. We are excited to see our young samba boys play against Singapore’s best in June,” said Francisco Zoroastro Campos, President of the FLA-Cingapura, the local fan club for Brazilian club CR Flamengo.
The competition format will be single round robin with the matches to be played on 18th, 20th and 22nd of June 2011.
The top two teams from each group will progress to the knock-out stages (24th June 2011) where they will vie for a place in the final on 26th June 2011 at the Jalan Besar Stadium.
Tickets will go on sale on 1 May 2011 with fans able to choose from a selection of ticket packages which includes Family Packages, Season Passes, Concessionary prices for students and seniors citizens as well as bundle packages that allows for reduced admission prices to Group Stages, the Knockout Rounds or both.
Tickets will be available at all AXS machines island-wide as well as at all Ticketbooth outlets. Ticket prices range from SGD20 to SGD25 for the Open Category, and SGD7 for students and senior citizens.
