KUCHING (25 March 2012) – The Malaysia national team could only managed a drab 1-1 draw against Super League side Sarawak in a friendly that was played at the Sarawak National Stadium last night.
It was the ASEAN champion’s eighth game without a win.
Utilising a highly experimental side without the likes of Safee Sali, Norshahrul Idlan Talaha or Khairul Fahmi Che Mat, the team under chief coach K. Rajagobal still exert some dominance against a home team determined to prove their worth.
But in spite of Sarawak having the better part of the possession in the first half, the Malaysian defence stood well against the onslaught to hold the score at 0-0.
It was different in the second half as Malaysia pushed forward and in the 65th minute, they finally found the lead through newcomer Venice Delphi Danny Kaya who slotted home from close range.
But the lead lasted only two minutes before Joel Epalle nailed the equaliser to beat reserve keeper Syed Adney Syed Hussein.
