SINGAPORE (13 March 2012) – DPMM FC picked up their second win in three matches as they handed leaders Albirex Niigata their first defeat of the season following the former’s 2-1 win in an S-League match that was played at the Hassanal Bolkiah National Stadium in Berakas this week.
Subhi Abdullah had given the homesters the lead on 13th minute before Sho Shimura found the equalizer for the Japanese side on 35 minute. But striker Rodrigo Grahl emerged as the hero for DPMM when he blasted what was the winning goal a minute to the hour mark.
“Rodrigo definitely deserved the goal. He has been working very hard over the 22 days since our last game,” said Vjeran Simunic, the chief coach of DPMM.
“Albirex are the number one favourites to be champions this year but we showed we were the better team. We won because we ran and fought just like them.
“Three points is a big present for everyone. I’m a very happy coach.”
