BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN (14 March 2009) – Brunei club DPMM FC are pleased with their maiden appearance in the S-League thus far where they have gone on four matches without being beaten.
And the latest was seeing DPMM FC holding former S-League champions Geylang United FC to a scoreless draw at the Bedok Stadium in Singapore. DPMM FC opened their campaign in the S-League with a 1-1 away draw to the Young Lions late last month before scoring identical 2-1 wins over Super Reds FC and Woodlands Wellington FC. And following their latest result, DPMM are now on third in the 12-team S-League. ”Even though it is still early season yet, the response to the matches at the Hassanal Bolkiah Stadium has been quite positive,” said Pengiran Mohd Waslimin Pengiran Abdul Momin, the team manager for DPMM FC. “We are very happy with what S-League has brought to the game in Brunei and this has allowed our players to improve the quality of their game.” For their first home game against the Super Reds, attendance at the Hassanal Bolkiah Stadium was 12,000 while for their second home match against Woodlands Wellington FC, more than 8,000 spectators were in attendance. DPMM’s next match will be against Balestier Khalsa FC at the Tao Payah Stadium on Thursday. PIC: DPMM FC head coach Vjeran Simunic |
