BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN (26 Jan 2013) – Brunei’s only professional club DPMM FC have signed former World Cupper Ivan Bosnjak of Croatia to further strengthen their campaign in the S-League this year.
Vjeran Simunic, the chief coach of DPMM, revealed that Bosnjak has been signed to the club where currently the former Dinamo Zagreb forward is back home sorting out his personal details.
“Ivan is now in Croatia. But he will be back in Brunei before the pre-season friendlies in Vietnam,” said Simunic. “He is a good player, but he needs to adjust to the team, and that is why the pre-season friendlies are necessary.”
The signing of Bosnjak completes DPMM’s foreign roster alongside Portuguese striker Joao Vitor Moreira, Guadeloupean midfielder Stephane Auvray and also Tales Ricarte dos Santos and Dino Drpic from Brazil.
Towards improving their second-placed finish from last year in the Singapore League, DPMM will be heading to Ho Chi Minh City in Vietnam on 1-8 February for three friendly matches.
“The best football clubs in Vietnam are currently playing in other tournaments in other parts of Vietnam, so they will most likely unavailable for the friendly matches,” added Vjeran. “But we will still be playing against good teams and the players are looking forward to the trip.”
