What made the win all the more satisfying was the fact that they had beaten the S-League defending champions Singapore Armed Forces FC (SAFFC) in the final that was played at the Jalan Besar Stadium.

The score at the end of regulation was 1-1 after Aleksandar Duric’s seventh minute lead was cancelled out by Croatian defender Rene Komar just three minutes later.

But DPMM emerged victorious in the penalty shootout with a 4-3 score after Rosmin Khamis converted the all-important kick following misses from SAFFC’s Japanese midfielder Masahiro Fukasawa and Razaleigh Khalid.

“I am really happy to have played such a big part in the win,” said DPMM keeper Wardun.

“I knew I could do it (save the shots). I did not feel any pressure during the penalties because it was not the first time I have been in a shootout.”
