YANGON (22 Oct 2015) – Yangon United had double reason to celebrate this week as the juniors added the MNL-1 Youth (U21) League trophy to the Myanmar National League title the senior side guaranteed at the weekend.
Yangon United clinched the title despite a 1-1 draw away to Monywa’s Zeyar Shwe Myay on October 17.
The result came in a weekend where teams striving for survival in Myanmar’s top flight showed their teeth to grind out results against the top three.
The season’s victory sees them earn their fourth national title in just six full regular seasons of the Myanmar National League.
The Lions entered the weekend expecting that victory would be required to lift the trophy and qualify for the qualifying stages of the AFC Champions League.
