SUPHANBURI (5 April 2016) – The Suphan Buri Provincial Administrative Organisation have signed up with the German giants Borussia Dortmund to form the ‘Suphanburi Football Academy’ to unearth new talents.
The launch of Suphanburi Football Academy project involves the building of a world-class academy with a full range of facilities.
“We’ve given importance to the significance of enhancing youth players’ abilities during the formative years. We have our sport strategy. Borussia Dortmund, a worldclass club known for it philosophy of bringing players through its own academy, meanwhile, wanted to tap in to new market in Southeast Asia region.
“They came to Suphan Buri province to explore our readiness and agreed to sign a long-term contract to establish a topclass academy to produce young players to play club football in the country and abroad,” said Boonchu Jansuwan, the head of the Suphan Buri Provincial Administrative Organisation.
The Suphanburi Football Academy will hold a trial for young players nationwide to seek the best 11 plus seven substitutes for the “DREAM 11” project.
Dortmund, as partners, will give their support by sending their coaches to train players at the academy.
The 18 selected players from the “DREAM 11” project along with a trainer and four assistant coaches would then travel to Germany to play against Dortmund’s youth team.
