HANOI (20 April 2015) – Basement side Dong Nai picked up only their fifth points of the Toyota V. League 1 season thus far when they held struggling Hoang Anh Gia Lai (HAGL) to a 2-2 draw at the Pleiku Stadium.
Dong Nai had only won once and drew once in nine matches previously, with their only win coming off a 1-0 victory over XSKT Can Tho in mid-January. They then drew 1-1 against Hai Phong in February
And this week despite playing on the road, Dong Nai were full of confidence as they capitalised on a mistake from HAGL goalkeeper Nguyen Minh Nhut for striker Jose Nsi to score in the 36th minute.
Buoyed by the support from the local fans, HAGL upped the tempo after the break and in the 66th minute, Nguyen Phong Hong Duy duly found the equaliser.
And just nine minutes later, HAGL went in front for the first time in the game when Phan Thanh Hau latched on to a pass from Nguyen Cong Phuong for the 2-1 lead.
But Nguyen Hai Anh levelled the score for Dong Nai deep in injury time for both teams to share points.
Elsewhere, Song Lam Nghe An beat Dong Thap 3-1 at the Cao Lanh Stadium, while Quang Ninh Coal edged Dong Tam Long An 1-0 at the Long An Stadium.
The only goal of the game came off Minh Tuan in the 25th minute.
Da Nang blasted Can Tho 5-0 as Hai Phong overcame Quang Nam 1-0 and Khanh Hoa beat Hanoi T&T 1-0.
