DEFENDING CHAMPIONS NAM DINH IN QUARTER-FINALS

With the win, Nam Dinh will join seven other teams in the quarter-finals of the National Cup this year which will be played on 19-20 April, 2008.

But Nam Dinh’s desire to defend the title they won last year will have to be resolute as they will be up against The Cong – who have proven to be a force to be reckoned with following their recent defeat of cross-town rivals Hoa Phat Hanoi 1-0 at the My Dinh stadium.

On the other hand, current V-League leaders Cement Haiphong suffered their first defeat of the season when they went down to Song Lam Nghe An 4-2 in the penalty shoot-out.

The score at the end of regulation was 3-3.

In other matches, ACB Hanoi defeated Thanh Hoa 2-0 while Khanh Hoa beat Military Zone Seven 5-0 and Da Nang edging Dong Thap 2-0.

Binh Duong downed Can Tho 7-1 while Binh Dinh emerged victorious in the penalty shoot-out against Dong Tam Long An.
