PHNOM PENH (19 August 2012) – Debutants Boueng Ket Rubber Field FC made a strong impression in their first year of competition when they finished second in the league stage of the Metfone Cambodia League 2012.
This week, they showed their seriousness to compete for the overall Metfone Cambodia League crown when they thrashed struggling Chhlam Samut FC 7-0.
Nwakuna Friday nailed a personal best with four goals (in the 26th, 48th, 59th and 80th minute), Sin Dalin (41st and 67th minute) and Ohuru Darlington in he 45th minute.
With the top four teams moving into the play-offs next month, Boueng Ket completed the league round by picking up 36 points from 18 matches played. Naga Corp FC have already confirmed their placed as the best finisher this year with 37 points with one final game – against defending champions Phnom Penh Crown FC – yet to play.
Interestingly enough, Phnon Penh Crown FC are already out of contention for the crown this year when they failed to make the cut for the play-offs.
