HANOI (16 July 2008) – Song Lam Nghe An (SLNA) crushed Da Nang 5-2 to lift their fifth National Under-17 Football Championship crown.
But the game almost did not turn up to be in SLNA favour where they had to come back from behind and had a hat trick from Dinh Bao to thank for their victory. It was SLNA’s fifth consecutive title and the seventh in 10 starts. At Da Nang’s Chi Lang Stadium, the home team controlled the final in the first half and took the lead with a goal by Quach Tan in the 16th minute. However, the second half was a different story as Phi Son took the field for SLNA and helped the visitors wrest control. Four minutes after half time, Dinh Bao scored the equalizer for SLNAwith a header. Less than three minutes later, Hoang Thinh made it 2-1 with a powerful shot from 25 meters. The home team seemed to become anxious at this point and began to attack more, leaving gaps and making it easier for SLNA to stage their counter attack. Dinh Bao completed his hat trick with goals in the 72nd and 82nd minutes to put the score at 4-1. Phi Son rounded off the tally for the visitors in the 86th minute before Anh Khoa scored from the penalty spot for a consolation goal for the home team. For their effort, SLNA took home US$6,000 and a trophy. |
