Crown show quality to lift fifth Cambodian crown

PHNOM PENH (28 July 2014) – Newly-crowned Metfone Cambodia League 2014 champions Phnom Penh Crown showed their quality when they edged second-placed Boueng Ket Rubber Field FC 2-1 in the final game of the season.

It was Crown’s fifth title since the club’s inception in 2001. They had won the crown for the first time in 2002 as Samart United, in 2008 as Phnom Penh Empire and then victories in 2010 and 2011.

Bisan George opened the scoring just eight minutes into the tie before Odion Obadin put Phnom Penh Crown in a comfortable position with the second goal five minutes into the second half.

Boueng Ket finally finally found the back of the net deep in injury time through Chan Wadanaka.

With Crown and Boueng Ket finishing first and second respectively, Naga Corp FC completed the season on third after blasting Albirex Niigata Phnom Penh 6-1.

The goal scorers for Naga were Zogne Gbayoro Aderson in the sixth minute, Sun Sovan Rithy (23^rd), Chuon Chum (31^st and 65^th), Barry Alpha Omar Lelouma (80^th) and Mat Nisa (86^th).

Tatsuta Kazuki scored the only goal for Albirex in the 17^th minute.

Elsewhere, Asia Europe University beat Kirivong Sok Sen Chey FC 3-1, Svay Rieng FC edged National Defense Ministry FC 2-1, Tri Asia Phnom Penh beat National Police 2-0 and Western University FC pummeled Build Bright United 4-0.
