PHNOM PENH (15 Dec 2015) – Phnom Penh Crown retained the Metfone Cambodian League 2015 after they saw off Nagaworld 3-2 on penalties in the final match of the season.
The match had ended 3-3 on aggregate after two legs with Naga coming back from the 2-0 deficit from the first leg to win the return 3-1.
Following a first half deadlock, Sun Sovanarithy gave Naga the lead before Crown drew level with a penalty that was converted by captain Bin Thierry not too long afterwards.
Naga regained the lead through Kouch Sokumpheak’s double at the end to force the match into extra-time.
In the meantime, Boeung Ket Angkor emerged third after beating Cambodian Tiger FC 2-1.
Boueng Ket also bagged the Fair Play Award while head coach Prak Sovanara was named the Coach of the Year while Chan Vathanaka, who scored 37 goals during the season, claimed the Golden Boot and was also voted the Most Valuable Player.
