JAKARTA (11 Sept 2009) – Copa Indonesia is still on the lookout for new sponsors following the decision of tobacco company Dji Sam Soe to part ways with organisers Liga Indonesia for the new 2009/2010 season.
“We are still in talks with several companies on this issue. Who they are, we are not at liberty to reveal at this point. We will make the announcement when we have inked the contract,” said Andi Darussalam Tabusalla, the director of Liga Indonesia. After four years of sponsorship, Dji Sam Soe pulled out of from being the main sponsors of Copa Indonesia recently citing a change in their marketing strategy. But while there is still no confirmation on the new sponsors Liga Indonesia – the arm of PSSI (FA of Indonesia) in charge of running the league and other competitions – has stated that the Copa Indonesia will still be played out as planned starting in November. The Copa Indonesia is a tournament between the different divisions from the Indonesia Super League to the Premier and First Division teams. In the meantime, the main Indonesia Super League (ISL) will still enjoy the sponsorship of PT Djarum for the new season. “We will be signing the contract with PT Djarum after Eid Aidilfitri. The quantum of sponsorship will be announced then,“ he added. |
