PHNOM PENH (30 May 2008) – Cambodia scored a consolation win in their final qualifying game of the AFC Challenge Cup when they beat Macau 3-1 at the National Olympic Stadium.
Hosts Cambodia are already out of contention for a place in the main draw of the AFC Challenge Cup this year when they lost out to Nepal in the first game of the qualifiers. Against Macau, the Cambodians were firing on all pistons when Nuth Sinoun fired in the lead in the 30th minute for them to be 1-0 in front at the halfway mark. C. M. Kong then gave Macau a ray of hope with the equaliser in the 65th minute before Chan Rithy replied for Cambodia two minutes later to restore their advantage. Nuth Sinoun was on target deep in injury time to give Cambodia the well-deserved victory. |
