HANOI (29 April 2014) – The Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) have nominated prodigal son Le Cong Vinh as one of five players to be selected for the ASEAN All-Star Team.
The AFF will be organizing a Charity Match for the victims of typhoon Haiyan which hit the Philippines last year with the ASEAN All-Star team taking on the Indonesian national side on 11 May at the Gelora Bung Karno Stadium.
Other than Cong Vinh, who plays for Song Lam Nghe An FC in the V-League, the VFF have also nominated striker Nguyen Anh Duc from Binh Duong, midfielder Nguyen Van Quyet of Ha Noi T&T, midfielder Nguyen Minh Chau of Hai Phong and defender Truong Dinh Luat of Binh Duong.
In the meantime, Malaysia’s Datuk K. Rajagobal has taken over as the coach of the All-Star team following the unavailability of Thailand’s Piyapong Pue-on.
The AFF had also approached Radojko Avramovic (formerly with the FA of Singapore, now with the Myanmar FA), Winfried Schaefer (formerly with the FA of Thailand) and also Michael Weiss (former with the FA of Philippines) but all three were not available.
