BANGKOK (Feb 4, 2007) – The Asean Football Federation (AFF) will convene a special committee next week to look into the incident which took place in Singapore during the first leg, final of the Asean Football Championship.
Dato’ Seri Dr. Ibrahim Saad, who was the head of delegation for the AFF in Singapore, said after the Council meeting this morning here in Bangkok that, the meeting on Tuesday will be held in Kuala Lumpur. It is to be headed by Tengku Ahmad Rithaudeen, the president of the AFF. “After studying all the relevant reports from the Match Commissioner and the Referee Assessor, it is felt that we need to study the issue further,” said Dato’ Seri Ibrahim, who is also the general secretary of the FA of Malaysia (FAM). “We will decide then (at the meeting) if there had been a breach of discipline in the game.” In the game which was played at the National Stadium in Kallang, the award of a penalty in the 81st minute by Malaysian referee C. Ravichandran saw the match being stopped by about 15 minutes. The conversion of the penalty after the resumption of the match by Singapore’s Mustafic Fahrudin gave the Lions a 2-1 advantage over Thailand going into the second leg, final tonight. Apart from Tengku Ahmad and Dato’ Seri Ibrahim, the other members of the committee are His Excellency Ravy Khek, the deputy president of the Cambodian FA, Francisco Kabualdi, the president of the Timor Leste FA and Dr. Tranh Quoc Tuan, the general secretary of the Vietnam Football Federation. |
