YANGON (20 July 2017) – City Yangon FC gained promotion back to the top flight of the Myanmar National League (MNL) this week after winning the MNL -2 with an unbeaten record.
City, who was relegated at the end of the 2016 season, will be joined by first-timer Mahar Untied FC in the MNL 2018.
“We won with an undefeated record. This is a good record but it’s going to be more difficult next season. We’ll make good preparations for next season because MNL is a more difficult league.” said U Kyaw Kyaw Oo, manager of City Yangon.
“Even though we were promoted in 2015, we were relegated because we didn’t have experience at that time. This year we had a plan and our players have gained valuable experience. I believe our team can take this good form to the 2018 MNL season.”
For Mahar Untied head coach Zaw Lin Tun: “our team needs to bring in more players. The top league more difficult and every rival is tough. We have plans to rein in young local players as well as foreign stars.”
