BANGKOK (18 Sept 2010) – Chonburi FC head into this weekend’s match against Bangkok Glass knowing very well that they will need to pick up the full points should they want to maintain their hopes of winning the Thai Premier League crown this year.
The loss to basement side Bangkok United last week certainly did not help matters where now they are now five points behind defending champions and current leaders Muang Thong United. Chonburi’s assignment looks tough as they will be without several key players including injured goalkeeper Sinthaweechai Hathairattanakool and suspended defender Suree Sukha. “We must get three points. If we don’t win, it could mean that the title race is over,” said Chonburi coach Jadet Meelarp. The Sharks’ strike force will be led by Ney Fabiano who moved from Bangkok Glass in mid-season, and Jadet hopes the Brazilian will find the back of the net against his former club. Glass coach Roberto Carvalho said he is confident that the home crowd and the artificial pitch at Leo Stadium will help the Rabbits defeat Chonburi. Leaders Muang Thong United are not playing this weekend due to their AFC Cup match last Tuesday. |
