BANGKOK (19 March 2012) – Former champions Chonburi FC got their campaign on the right track on the first match day of the Thai Premier League 2012 when they blasted financially-strapped Thai Port 4-0 at the Chonburi Stadium.
Kroekrit Taweekarn grabbed a brace in the sixth and 45th minute to add to those from Geoffrey Doumeng (30th minute) and Nuru Sriyankem (79th).
It was not only Chonburi who picked up the full points as defending champions Buriram United and SCG Muang Thong United were also on the winning track when they overcame Chiang Rai United 3-1 and BEC Tero Sasana 2-1 respectively.
Elsewhere, Pattaya United drew 0-0 with Samut Songkhram FC at the Nong Prue Stadium while Bangkok Glass FC celebrated the opening of the Leo Stadium with an easy 2-0 victory over Thai Premier League newcomers Wuachon United.
At the Rajamangala Stadium, host BB-CU FC edged Isan United 1-0 with the only goal of the game coming in the 65th minute off Chainarong Tathong as Osotspa M-150 Saraburi overcame TOT SC 2-1 at the Saraburi Stadium. On the other hand, Army United drew 1-1 against newcomers Chainat FC while Insee Police United drew 0-0 with TTM Chiang Mai.
