BANGKOK (29 May 2009) – Chonburi Bluewave moved within a point of leaders CAT Telecom in the Thai Futsal League 2009 after the latter was held to a pulsating draw by Royal Thai Navy.
With Chonburi scoring a hard fought 3-2 win over I AM Sport, the 3-3 draw suffered by CAT Telcom meant that Chonburi are now just a point behind the leaders. After 14 matches, CAT Telecom have picked up 33 points while Chonburi are second with 32 points and I AM Sport on third with 29 points. Despite being a goal down to I AM Sport as early as the second minute when Sermphan Khumthinkeaw blasted home, Chonburi relied on their experience to get them through when international Panuwat Janta grabbed the equalizer five minutes later. But Chonburi fell yet again in the 17th minute through Panya Buakum for CAT Telecom to be 2-1 in front at the half. However, Chonburi made good on two quick strikes off Ekapan Suratsawang (27th and 28th minute) for them to edge I AM Sport for the full three points. In the meantime, CAT Telecom were just a shade off colour on the day when they found themselves trailing by 2-0 after Jetsada Chudej (4th minute) and Wisawat Saeheng (10th minute) gave Royal Thai Navy the best of start. The score at the break was 2-2 when CAT Telecom found the equalizer through Lertchai Issarasuwipakorn (18th minute) and Rogerio Moreira (19th). Royal Thai Navy were then in front again when Dumrong Phusomneuk blasted in the 26th minute only to see Tananchai Chomboon winning the point for CAT Telecom with the equalizer six minutes to the end.
