MANILA (13 August 2012) – Chicago proved to be too much of an Inferno for the Philippines when they were overwhelmed 3-1 in their first friendly match of the US Tour on Sunday.
Without the influence of the Younghusbands or several of their European based players, the Philippines found it hard going against Inferno as they conceded the first goal early in the seventh minute through Carl Haworth.
Goalkeeper Eduard Sacapaño was then punished for the second time barely seventh minute later when Andrew Jeskey chipped the ball over his head. Jeskey then added the third goal for Inferno in the 31st minute with a well taken free kick.
The Philippines scored their only goal in the game in the 73rd minute off Carli de Murga. Their next match will be against the US Virgin Islands on 18 August in Indianapolis, Indiana.
