BANGKOK (June 23, 2007) – Thailand head coach Chanvit Phalajivin is pleased with the hardwork and the fitness level of his players following their thumping 8-1 win over German amateurs TSV Lennarts 8-1 at the Lennarts Stadium in Fulda.
The win follows their close 2-1 over German Fourth Division side Borussia Fulda last week with Chanvit saying that there is an obvious improvement in the players’ physical capacity. “’We played very well especially in the attack and in the counter-attack,” said Chanvit of the side which are preparing for the Asian Cup 2007 early next month. “’We should have scored around 10 goals. We have improved a lot and our fitness is much better because of all the hard training we have done.” But what should have made the win sweeter was the fact that the strikers are taking their chances well with Teerathep Winothai scoring a second half hat-trick. The opening goal for Thailand was scored by Pipat Tonkanya before Pichitpong Cheuichiew and 19-year-old Teerasil added the third goal just before half time. Jakkrit Bunkham scored twice after the break for the final scoreline as Lennarts only goal of the afternoon came from an own goal off Hattaporn Suwan. Thailand’s final friendly match in Germany will be against the Frankfurt Eintracht Under-21 tomorrow before their return to Bangkok the day after. SOURCE: BANGKOK POST |
