BANGKOK (23 May 2015) – Speedy winger Chanathip Songkrasin will be looked upon to lead Thailand when they begin their title defence at the SEA Games when it begin next week.
The 21-year-old frontman was the livewire in the Thai team when they romped to their fourth AFF Suzuki Cup crown last year.
And come Singapore where Thailand have been placed in a tough Group B against Malaysia, Vietnam, Laos, Brunei and Timor Leste, Chanathip will have to be in his element for Thailand to pick up back to back titles.
Thailand will open their campaign against Laos on 29 May.
The last friendly Thailand played saw them beating Myanmar 4-0 in Bangkok – off goals from Nurul Sriyankem in the 50th minute, Thitipan Puangchan (60th minute penalty), Chananan Pombuppha (74th) and Rungrath Poomchantuek (89th).
