BANGKOK (23 Feb, 2008) – A 4-3 loss to league leaders Port Authority of Thailand saw Cat Telecom slipping to fourth at the table to allow Chonburi Blue Wave and TOT to move up to second and third in the Thai Futsal League 2007/2008.
Cat Telecom, which have been chasing Port Authority the whole season long, failed to capitalise on their early lead when Oswaldo Freitas slammed home in the seventh minute when they allowed Port Authority to claw back for a 2-2 draw at the break. Ukrit Taengtang found the equaliser on tenth minute before Tanakorn Santhanaprasit gave Port Authority the lead for the first time in the game with a well-taken shot a minute later. Jirawat Sornwichien grabbed the second goal for Cat Telecom as both teams trooped off into the break in search of the winning point. And Port Authority started the second half on a bright note when they steal into the lead off Wuttichai Tintawee in the 27th minute before Rogerio Moreira gave Cat Telecom a lifeline with the equaliser two minutes later. However, just when things seem to be heading into a deadlock, Ukrit nailed the final goal of the game in the 35th minute for the league leaders to remain on top with a four-point advantage over Chonburi Bluewave. And Chonburi had a rather easy day when they thrashed RBAC 5-0 to improve their position to second at the table with 41 points. Chonburi’s goals were scored by Eakapong Suratsawang (5th minute), Jaded Poonperm (14th), Surasak Ardeiam (30th), Krissada Wongkeaw (37th) and Francisco Jackson (39th). A point behind is TOT who blasted Nonthaburi 8-3 for them to take third spot at the table with 40 points. Panomkorn Saisorn and Sirirote Panyateerawong scored a hat-trick each in the one-sided affair as Nattaphan Namboonmee (8th minute) and Panya Buakam (19th) added the other for the final score line. At the end of the spectrum saw basement side Nakormratchasima conceding yet another defeat when they went down 10-5 to Sripathum University. CURRENT THAI FUTSAL LEAGUE STANDINGS 1.
