BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN (3 May 2018) – Cambodia will take on Timor Leste in the final of the Hassanal Bolkiah Trophy 2018 that will take place in two days.
In the semi-finals last night, Cambodia defied the odds to dump defending champions Myanmar out with a fabulous 2-1 vitctory while Timor Leste edged Singapore by the same scoreline.
arong Kakada was on target twice in the 12th and 32nd minute before an own goal from defender Soeuy Visal in the 40th minute gifted Myanmar a lifeline.
Even that failed to ignite Myanmar into action as the score stayed until the final whistle as the Cambodians kept it tight at the back.
In the meantime, the Fandi Ahmad-led Singapore were denied a place in the final by a resolute Timor Leste side who came back from a goal down in the first half to win the tie 2-1.
Ikhsan Fandi gave Singapore the lead in the 34th minute as Timor staged a fifghback after the break with two quick goals in three minute through Rufino Gama (76th minute) and Henrique Cruz (78th).
It is the first final appearance for both Timor Leste and Cambodia.
The final match of the Hassanal Bolkiah Trophy 2018 will be played on 5 May at the Hassanal Bolkiah Stadium with kick off at 2030hrs.
