PHNOM PENH (Oct 14, 2007) – Cambodia were denied a point in their first match of the first round of the 2010 World Cup qualifiers this week when they conceded a 1-0 defeat to Turkmenistan at home.
In the match that was played in front of more than 3,000 fans at the National Olympic Stadium, the home side held the visitors for long periods to hold them to a deadlock at the break.
But the breather proved pivotal where the constant pressure from Turkmenistan saw Cambodia unable to pick up the full points when Mamedaly Karadanov slammed home five minutes to the end.
