HANOI (23 Jan 2010) – Henrique Calisto has almost agreed to sign a new contract with the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) following their recent meeting which lasted close to five hours.
“Both sides were straightforward during the meeting. Sometimes, Calisto went red because he didn’t agree about something. But eventually, both sides agreed on most details. The new contract will last till March 2013,” said VFF Vice Chairman Le Hung Dung. “There are still some issues to be ironed out and we need to consult lawyers. “The Labor Code of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam will be applied for these situations. We need to make everything clear to avoid unnecessary disagreements later.” “But Calisto will not get USD20,000 per month as had been reported although I can’t let you know how much.” Last week, VFF Chairman Nguyen Trong Hy said Calisto’s monthly salary after tax would be raised from the current amount of USD13,000 to USD20,000. As far as putting target for Calisto is concerned, Dung said that the VFF had set the ASEAN Football Championships 2010 and the SEA Games in 2011 in Jakarta as their aim. “I want to stress that those goals are not mandatory conditions because it would be very hard for the coach and players. VFF doesn’t want to put heavy pressure on Calisto. The contract just says ‘try to achieve the goals,’” Dung said. |
