BANGKOK (23 March 2011) – Buriram PEA scored a convincing 3-0 victory over former champions Chonburi FC to go top of the Thai Premier League (TPL) 2011 while big spending Muang Thong United were humiliated 5-1 on the road to Osotspa M-150.
At the i-Mobile Stadium in Buriram, more than 20,000 fans were present to watch as Cameroonian Frank Ohandza gave homesters the best of start with the lead on sixth minute.
Ohandza was on target again in the second half with a strike in the 56th minute to put Buriram 2-0 up before Jakkraphan Kaewprom added the finishing touch with the third goal in the 77th minute.
The win gave Buriram PEA the top spot in the league while Chonburi fell down to sixth in the standings.
Defending champions Muang Thong United were torn apart in the second half by a lively Osostspa team after Pipat Tonkanya’s goal in the 18th minute was erased by Muang Thong’s Datsakorn Thonglao in the 33rd minute.
But the second half was all Osotspa when they slammed four more goals from Marcio da Silva (50th minute), Apipoo Sunthornpanavej (58th), Lazaras Kaimbi (89th) and Wannapol Bussapakom (90th).
The result saw Osotspa improved to third place while Muang Thong slipped down to 12th – just one win from four matches.
At Chonburi Physical Education stadium, Navy FC drew 1-1 with Insee Police United. The Navy took the lead through Rattaporn Saetan in the 44th minute before Surachart Sareepim equalised in the 65th.
TOT SC remain pointless at the bottom after losing 0-2 at home to Pattaya United, Niweat Siriwong and Patipol Petchviset were on target for Pattaya..
Thai Port had their first home game of the season but could only manage a 1-1 draw with Bangkok Glass and remain third from bottom.
Sompong Sorleb put Port ahead in the 28th minute but former Port striker Sarayuth Chaikamdee equalised for the Glass Rabbit in the 57th minute.
