BANGKOK (13 August 2014) – Defending champions Buriram United opened up a four point lead at the top of the Thai Premier League (TPL) 2014 when they beat mid-table side Singhtarua 2-0 at the I-Mobile Stadium.
Chitiphan Thanklang had given Buriram the best of start with the lead just two minutes into the game before Argentinian David Rochela added the second goal after the break.
The win gave Buriram 59 points from 28 matches played – four points ahead of second-placed Chonburi FC, who this week held ambitious Suphanburi 1-1.
It was Suphanburi drew first blood when Bjorn Lindermann gave the lead in the 18th minute before Chonburi equalised through Thiago Cunha just five minutes later.
Elsewhere, Samut Songkhram pummelled Air Force Central 4-0 as Rayong came back from their loss to Muang Thong last week to beat Army United 2-1.
