BANGKOK (5 Feb 2012) – Buriram PEA completed the grand treble this week when they picked up the Thai League Cup crown last night, to add to the Thai Premier League title and also the Thai FA Cup they had already won earlier.
In the final of the League Cup last night at the Supachalasai Stadium, the north-eastern side beat Thai Port FC 2-0 with goals off Rangsan Vivatchaichok (21st minute) and Clarence Bintang (90 minute).
“It’s a dream come true, we have won three trophies this season,” said Buriram PEA chairman Newin Chidchob.
“I am very happy. We have worked very hard in the past two years and achieved great success.”
Added Buriram PEA coach Attapol Bussapakom said: “we are very happy and we have been rewarded for our hard work. We will have a tougher task next season though as we will also play in the AFC Champions League.”
Buriram PEA will become Buriram United next season after they merged with their sister club Buriram FC. Buriram PEA won THB5 million(USD 162,000) in prize money while Thai Port picked up THB1 million (USD 32,000).
