BANGKOK (26 Sept 2011) – A close 1-0 away win over Thai Port FC has allowed Buriram PEA to stretch their lead at the top of the Thai Premier League to 11 points although second-placed Chonburi FC still have a game in hand.
In an evenly contested affair which also Buriram goalkeeper Sivaruk Terdsungnern emerging the hero with a first-half penalty save, the two sides were finally separated by the lone goal from Cameroon’s Franck Ohandza, making good on a pass from Yutthajak Konjan in the 58th minute.
In the other matches, Bangkok Glass FC moved up to fourth place after thrashing TTM Phichit 4-0 at the Leo Stadium.
All four goals came during the first half with a brace from Hironori Saruta (16th and 22nd minute) as Sarayuth Chaikamdee (26th) and Vichaya Dechmitr(44th) scored the other goals.
At the Thephatsdin Stadium, host BEC Tero Sasana defeated Army United 1-0 with the only goal of the game coming off Ronnachai Rangsiyo in the 63rd minute while at the Thammasat Stadium, Insee Police United edged Chiang Rai United 2-1.
At the Chonburi Physical Education Stadium, Pattaya United defeated SCG Samut Songkhram FC 3-0.
