PHNOM PENH (24 June 2008) – Build Bright United FC lost the momentum at the top of the Cambodia Premier League when they conceded a 2-1 loss to Phnom Penh Empire at the National Olympic Stadium.
An early strike from S. Z. Sani in the 21st minute was not enough for Build Bright to pick up the full points as Empire struck back just before the break off Chan Rithy. The game was evenly balanced for much of the second half until Kok Sok Ngan blasted in the winner with a minute left on the clock. However, the win still gave Build Bright the top spot in the league with 16 points although they have played a total of eight matches as against Empire’s five games thus far. In the meantime, second-placed Khemara Keila FC had two goals from A. Tunjiayoyinka (15th and 60th minute) to thank for their convincing 3-1 victory over Naga Corp FC. In between, Nwakun Friday’s strike in the 24th minute completed the win for Khemara although Naga did score a last minute goal off A. Kenneth deep in injury time. Kirivong Sok Sen Chey FC were also in form when they beat Preah Khan Reach FC 3-1. A brace from O. J. Chukwuma (37th and 61st minute) and another from CURRENT CAMBODIA PREMIER LEAGUE 2008 STANDINGS 1. BUILD BRIGHT UNITED FC 16 pts (+10) 2. KHEMARA KEILA FC 12pts (+5) 3.
