BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN (21 March 2013) – Less than a day after announcing their participation, the Brunei national team has announced that they will not take part in the qualifying round of the AFC Challenge Cup which will begin tomorrow in Manila.
“Due to unavoidable circumstances, Brunei Darussalam is unable to participate in the upcoming AFC Challenge Cup qualifiers scheduled to be held in the Philippines on 22-26 March,” said Dato Paduka Mohd Hamid Mohd Jaafar, the permanent secretary of Brunei’s Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports.
Brunei were supposed to be in Group E of the AFC Challenge Cup qualifiers against hosts Philippines, Cambodia and Turkmenistan.
