BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN (12 May 2015) – The Brunei Under-23 team will head to Japan this week as they gear up for the SEA Games in Singapore at the end of the month.
The team under chief coach Stephen Ng will be playing three friendly matches during their 10-day sojourn in Japan.
And while the team will be without DPMM FC midfielders Aminuddin Zakwan Tahir, Azwan Ali Rahman and Ak Yura Indera Peter Pg Yunus as they will be playing in the S-League on Thursday, Stephen feels that it will not be a big problem.
“We have to work with what we have,” said Stephen, who indicated that the trio will only join the team after their match on Thursday.
“We understand they are in the professional game and we cannot disrupt their season. As much as we want them in the team we have to be understanding.”
The trip was made possible after an invitation from the Japan Foundation in cooperation with the Japan Football Association (JFA) and Japan Professional Football League (J League).
The Brunei U23 team – or Tabuan Muda – will start their SEA Games campaign on 29 May.
