BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN (4 August 2014) – Preparations for the Hassanal Bolkiah Trophy 2014 moved up a notch this weeks as teams from across the region took time to gear up for the tournament slated for 9-23 August.
Hosts Brunei had a late strike from Mohd Nurikhwan Othman in the 90th minute to thank for their 1-1 draw against Sabah, who went ahead in the 59th minute through Marwan Sayedeh.
“A draw is already a good result for us given that we have some injuries in the team and DPMM FC will be playing tomorrow (today) so we cannot have them playing full time,” said Brunei team manager Feisal Eusoff.
“We have three good chances in the game and we were very unlucky not to score, I hope that we can continue the play and the discipline when we take on Sabah again on Tuesday so that we can decide on the starting eleven.”
In the meantime, the Laos U21 side staged a late fight back to hold their counterparts from Cambodia to a 2-2 draw at the National Stadium in Vientiane.
It was the visiting Cambodian side who went ahead early in the 16th minute before adding the second in the 67th minute.
But Laos staged a late fight back to score twice in the 74th and 80th minute for the hard fought 2-2 draw.
