BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN (29 August 2012) – Brunei will begin their preparation for the qualifying round of the AFF Suzuki Cup 2012 by taking on Malaysian Super League champions Kelantan in a friendly on 8 September 2012 at the Sultan Mohd IV Stadium.
The Sultanate side is making a return to the AFF Suzuki Cup fold after giving the last edition a miss following their suspension by FIFA.
“We will play Kelantan in Kota Bharu on 8 September. The match will help us prepare the national team for the AFF Suzuki Cup qualifiers in October,” said Feisal Eusoff, the team manager of Brunei.
“The players have been training currently at the Hassanal Bolkiah National Stadium and Berakas Sports Complex and the preparation have been running well and the squad for the tournament will be unveiled in a few days.”
Brunei will be vying against four other teams – hosts Myanmar, Laos, Cambodia and Timor Leste – for the only two available spots for the final round.
The qualifiers will begin in Yangon on 5 October.
