BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN (28 July 2014) –Brunei are in the process of revamping their National League system from 2015 onwards and aim to kick off their new Brunei Super League in January next year with help from the AFC Kick Off development programme.
A planning meeting was held between the National FA of Brunei Darussalam (NFABD) represented by their Competitions Director Muhammad Radzuan Haji Madali and Yogesh Desai, Development Officer from the Kick Off programme.
The meeting was a follow-up to the AFC and NFABD’s first meeting in March to assess the nation’s football and to develop an action plan under the Kick Off programme to enhance it further.
During the meeting, Redzuan made a presentation on various options for the National League structure and said the NFABD aim to kick off the new Brunei Super League, the top flight in the National League system, in January 2015.
On administrative matters, the AFC will assist the NFABD in drafting basic and simple club licensing regulations for the National League in 2016 as agreed in the action plan.
Important criteria that can be included in the club licensing regulations were discussed and the regulations will be aimed at improving the league governance as well the development of the clubs in off-the-field aspects.
The NFABD will get the regulations implemented in the clubs through the AFC’s assistance by conducting the necessary seminars and workshops for the clubs.
The NFABB are in the process of appointing a marketing manager and the AFC Kick Off will assist the marketing manager, through a mentoring programme, in acquiring league sponsorships, co-sponsorships and other commercial advantages.
In addition, the AFC will help the marketing managers of the clubs by assisting them in sponsorships and other commercial matters through seminars and individual mentoring.
Kick Off is a development programme which focuses on strengthening the club and league management of AFC’s Member Associations (MAs) through tailor-made, self-sustainable solutions.
Brunei is one of 20 countries currently benefiting from Kick Off which gives its support through a wide range of services chosen by the participating MAs.
