BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN (20 May 2015) – THE FIFA Elite Youth Coaching Course started this week at the National FA of Brunei Darussalam (NFABD) House along Jalan Pusat Persidangan in Berakas.
A total of 29 NFABD affiliated coaches who are heavily involved in coaching youth have been selected for the course as part of their continuous coaching development.
The May 18-22 course is conducted by FIFA instructor Ahmad Bader from Kuwait.
“It is FIFA’s ultimate target to get all the small nations, including Brunei, to develop and be more competitive,” said Ahmad in an interview with The Brunei Times.
“This course is the very first step of the journey for FIFA development and in this particular course, we are focusing on helping coaches to develop youth – so it will be more on learning the technique.
“Brunei has just started to build up again and I know that most of the coaches here are only at beginner’s level, so we will try to develop step by step.
“It is very important to have FIFA to help football development in this country and I am very sure Brunei will catch up quickly with the other nations.
“This is my first time in Brunei and it is very nice to be in this quiet and very calm country,” he added.
The guest of honour at the event, NFABD’s executive committee member Ah Chua Bangau, hopes that all the participants will be able to make good use of the opportunity to learn from the best.
“We have 29 local coaches selected to enroll in this course, and here I am seeing many familiar faces that are active in coaching and promoting the sports in the country,” he said.
“I hope that all the participants learn a lot from this course, and what important also is that we must always have a very open mind to accept new things and knowledge.
“Other than that, it is very important for a coach to be disciplined and committed in carrying out their tasks and duties, and I hope that all the coaches will be able to co-operate with the organisers and the instructor Ahmad Bader throughout this five days course.
“I also would like to thank FIFA and NFABD for hosting the FIFA Elite Youth Coaching Course this year,” he added.
According to a press statement released by NFABD, the FIFA Elite Youth Coaching Course will enable participants to enhance their knowledge in coaching youth at an elite level.
The five-day course will provide participants with theoretical and practical lessons needed to coach youth.
