BANGKOK (6 March 2011) – Datuk Worawi Makudi, the president of the FA of Thailand (FAT) has announced that five-times World Champions Brazil will take on Thailand in an international friendly on 7 October this year.
The South American powerhouse will play in Bangkok as part of the celebrations of His Majesty the King’s 84th birthday.
“Teixeira (Ricardo, the president of the FA of Brazil) has promised that he will send Brazil’s strongest team to Thailand for the friendly,” said Worawi.
“This is good news for Thai fans. It will also be a good opportunity for Thai players to play against world-class players.
“Brazil will also send their national Futsal team to compete in a special event in Thailand in June.”
Worawi added that he is also asking Spain to play Brazil in the event which is aimed to promote the 2012 FIFA Futsal World Cup to be held in Thailand in 2012.
To mark the official countdown to the 2012 FIFA Futsal World Cup, Worawi said that he is also inviting legends Pele and Franz Beckenbauer to join in promotional events slated for 14 and 17 June 2011.
