VIENTIANE (10 April 2010) – Youth football in Laos will be expected to go up several notches following the successful completion of a training course aimed at top level youth football by local coach Konla Sayaseng.
The A-License certificate is the official recognition that Sayaseng has met the highest admission criteria as only top applicants are given an invitation to take part in the course, organised by the German FA (DFB) in Germany last year. This initiative comes in addition to the ongoing long-term project between the German Olympic Sports Confederation and the Lao Football Federation (LFF). Volker Hofferbert has been working successfully with the Lao Women’s national team and also the Lao Women’s Under-16 national team. This co-operation has also been extended by another year so as to enable Hofferbert to prepare teams for next year’s Lao National Games to be held in northern Luang Prabang. At the end of the ceremony, Hofferbert handed over a signed copy of the new ‘Basic Soccer Skills and Techniques’ manual to the Ambassador in recognition for his support of Lao football. This manual is specifically designed to address primary school children to systematically develop their football skills.
